KonamiPeace Walker is going to be a PSP-exclusive direct sequel to the fan favorite PS2 game
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. If that isn't enough to make it a big game in 2010, then I don't know what is. There will be a single-player story set in the jungles of South America in the 1970s, plus some co-op multiplayer options. All of that should come together in one fantastic game. Release date: May 28, 2010.
More Info
It had previously been released on the Wii, but
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will also be a welcome addition to just about any PSP gamer's library. It's a re-imagining of the original PlayStation (that's PS1) game, giving newer players a chance to start at the beginning of the series. But because it's re-done, gamers who played the original might want to check it out, too. Release date: January 19, 2010.

Duke Nukem Trilogy: Critical Mass
Fans have been wanting a sequel to
Duke Nukem 3D just about forever, it seems. And with the originally-planned sequel
Duke Nukem Forever probably never to see the light of day (oh, the irony), this game should do monstrously well. The "trilogy" part of the title doesn't mean the whole trilogy is on one disc; instead, it's the first game in a projected trio. Expect a lot of shooting (assuming it actually gets released). Release date: 2010, maybe.
Official SiteWho would have thought you could take Disney characters and Square Enix characters and combine them into an original story that didn't suck? Not only did the original
Kingdom Hearts game not suck, but it was actually pretty darn good, and spawned a second PS2 game, a GBA game, and then a DS game. 2010 is the PSP turn for a
Kingdom Hearts game, and fans are waiting for this prequel-to-the-series eagerly, especially since it will also feature multiplayer for up to 6. Release date: 2010.

Persona 3 Portable
Adding another (good) RPG to the PSP lineup,
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 goes on the road with
Persona 3 Portable. Though it's a port of the original
Persona 3, the PSP version features a new main character, so players can choose between playing as a male or female character. The remake also adds other features--maybe enough to make it tempting to gamers who've already played the original. Release date: July 2010.
Official SiteFinal Fantasy Agito XIII
If it's
Final Fantasy, it's pretty much guaranteed to be big, at least in Japan. The PSP has actually had a good number of FF games over the years, both remakes and originals.
Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be the PSP spin-off of the upcoming--and hotly anticipated PS3
Final Fantasy XIII (it was originally intended to be a mobile phone game, but got upgraded to PSP somewhere along the line). In what seems to be a recurring theme this year,
Agito will be a prequel to
Final Fantasy XIII proper. Release date: 2010.

Originally thought to be a port of the original
Resident Evil, it now looks like
Resident Evil Portable is going to be an all-new game that has been described as "totally different for a
Resident Evil game." One thing's for sure: there will be zombies. Lots and lots of zombies. (Unless that's the part that's going to be "totally different.") Release date: Halloween 2010.

Valkyria Chronicles 2
The first
Valkyria Chronicles game was much-praised for its gameplay and setting--it took the RPG formula and set it in a WWII-like fictional place instead of a fantasy world. It also added tactical strategy and action elements to the RPG, making for a challenging and interesting game. It wasn't a break-out hit, but enough people hold it in high enough regard that the PSP sequel should do well. Release date: summer 2010.
Official SitePerhaps 2010 is not simply "the year of the PSP," but "the year of the PSP RPG."
Lunar: Silver Star Harmony ports the classic JRPG
Lunar: Silver Star to the PSP. With completely reworked graphics a new soundtrack, reworked gameplay, and more story, it should be even better than the original. Release date: March 2010.

Dante's Inferno is getting a big giant release on multiple platforms, which might make the PSP version get overlooked by many gamers. If it's simply a straight port, it will be a big game only for gamers who own a PSP and not a PS3 or X360. On the other hand, there's a good chance there will be some sort of PSP-PS3 interaction, if only a bonus or two in one version if you also have the other, which will make it a game to keep an eye on. Release date: February 28, 2010.
